Phillip Vance Smith, II attends the College at Southeastern as a senior and works as a Writing Consultant. He coauthored The Prison Resources Repurposing Act, a legislative proposal for North Carolina. His most notable writings have appeared in The Humanist and The North Carolina Law Review. Smith also works as editor of The Nash News, the first prison published periodical in North Carolina. He has been serving life without parole for twenty-one years.
