Colie Levar Long was born and raised in Washington DC. At the age of 18, he was sentenced to life without parole. While serving 25 years, he became a youth mentor and an accomplished author. He writes about the carceral condition and criminal justice. He is the author of the fiction book DRAMA CITY (Midnight Express Books 2013) and several short essays.
