Kulsoom K. Ijaz
Kulsoom Ijaz is Senior Policy Counsel at Pregnancy Justice, where she works to defend the rights of pregnant people, including mapping emerging criminalization trends and working to defeat harmful legislation and advance protective law and policy. Before becoming Senior Policy Counsel, she served as Senior Staff Attorney at the organization, defending people whose pregnancy losses were recast as homicides and helping bring a civil rights case to end surveillance of pregnant people by family policy agencies in Vermont. Previously, she was a Staff Attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she helped litigate challenges to Idaho and Louisiana’s abortion bans. Her writing has appeared as a cover story on the unfinished work of reproductive justice in California in Los Angeles Lawyer and as an op-ed in Autonomy News.
