Mr. Fanshel is a professor at the Columbia University School of Social Work. He is the author of a large-scale longitudinal study of foster children and has published numerous books, monographs and articles reporting on studies of foster care, adoption, and child welfare preventive services. He has appeared as an expert witness in a number of court suits on behalf of women faced with termination of parental rights proceedings.
